In bumblebees this month we have been looking at the animal kingdom. We enjoyed exploring sensory themed tuff trays with lions, zebras and crocodiles. The books we have been enjoying are down in the jungle and rainforest. We expanded our learning onto dinosaurs and used natural resources such as lettuce, potatoes, vegetables. Carrying on with dinosaurs we looked at fossils and created dinosaur shapes out of playdough.

In Ladybirds we have been diving into transport, role playing going on the bus and the train. Making our own seats, lines, tickets and decorations which has helped us to take turns and bring our real life experiences into our play. We have also enjoyed baking some yummy fairy cakes as we have had lots of birthday celebrations this month. And finally the potatoes in our garden were ready to harvest so we picked a few, unfortunately they were still a little to small to eat so we just explored the texture and used them for some messy play.

Our preschoolers have been enjoying lots of holidays recently, so we have dived into sharing our experiences with our friends. The children have been looking at the world map, flags and have created an airport in the preschool room and using their handmade passports to get on and off flights. Our caterpillars have transformed into beautiful butterflies and we have really enjoyed watching the process. The children have learned so much from this experience and decided to set them free at the nature reserve.
