This month we introduced the snuffle stations to the classrooms where we learnt how to independently clean our noses and use a mirror to check we were doing it right. We have been learning how to be hygienic and so have been placing our tissues in a allocated sniffle bin.

Bumblebees

In bumblebees this month we have enjoyed making marks using various resources, so far we have created printed art using the multisided blocks, marks with paint brushes and tin foil balls in crazy foam and tyre tracks with the cars in the flour. Doing this allows us to get messy, experiment with texture and movement and practice fine and gross motor skills and early patterns and shapes. On Valentine’s day we enjoyed a red themed heart shaped tough tray with all different playdough flower and heart shapes.

Ladybirds

In our ladybird’s room the toddlers have been expressing ourselves through mark marking in so many ways. We have been doing small movements using pencils, pens and crayons as well as large movements with chalk in the garden, ribbons, crazy foam, sand and rice. It has built our concentration, fine and gross motor skills, hand eye coordination, and interests.

Butterflies

In butterflies we have been making the most out of our lovely new resources and making music with the multicultural musical instruments, building and constructing with our new builder’s kit, hard hats and high-vis’ which inspired us to take a trip to the local building site and see what equipment we could see from outside (the builders moved their diggers around for us to see, it was very exciting). For valentines day we made our very own jammy dodgers and gave them to the people that we love. And as a spontaneous trip we visited the St. Albans South Signal Box for their open day which was super fun! We loved looking at the trains, the old equipment and getting our own special little entry ticket.
