July offered another great opportunity to learn a little more about the Muslim festival of Eid, with our eldest children looking at the positions of the moon and discovering the importance of this. We then excitedly took part in an Eid themed tea party where our preschoolers created and ate their very own stuffed dates.

Bumblebees passion for sensory exploration continued this month as our babies moulded and manipulated with playdough, melted objects out of ice cubes and even explored real food in the home corners as they served their carers and peers cups of ‘tea’, bowls of porridge and frozen vegetables. We also mixed two of our favourite activities of baby role play and water play together and we spent time bathing our babies in soapy water, sponging them down and drying them off.

Trips to the farm and zoo has sparked a lot of fun, animal themed conversations in our Ladybirds room throughout July as children shared pictures of their adventures, discussing the animals they saw, the quantities in which they saw them in as well and the noises that they made. Through exploring a range of multi-media activities our toddlers were able to create their own animal faces using paper plates for their base.

The children in our pre-school room have continued to discuss the world around them and even began to look at the world from different angles including satellite images where the children were able to highlight the difference between land and water. Through exploring the world and the countries that make it up, our Butterflies discovered that there had been dinosaur footprints found in China which lead to fun activities exploring dinosaurs and the history of them. Our eldest children also learnt about how to keep the ocean safe as they discovered facts on pollution and delved into polluted water to save the sea animals from the rubbish!

This month we had heavy hearts as many of our eldest children spread their wings and left to embrace their exciting new adventures at big school. We of course did not let them go without a bang as we invited both the children and parents along for a fun filled leavers party where we bounced on the pirate ship bouncy castle, got our faces painted, took part in party games and tucked into some delicious ice cream from the ice cream van!
