Bumblebess

Bumblebees have enjoyed getting messy through the month of October we have been exploring different sensory trays, we had an autumn tray, cooking role play and emptying and filling. In our sensory trays the children had the opportunity to explore different animals, textures, and natural resources from outside environment. We have gone on walks down the Albon way to collect natural resources for example leaves, conkers, and pinecones. When we got back to the nursery, we used the resources we collected to become creative and make our own pictures. As we have fallen into October all our leaves on the trees have fallen and the children enjoyed running through and hearing the crunch of the leaves, we even filled umbrellas with leaves and tipped it over us, it was so much fun watching the leaves fall around us.

Ladybrids

Ladybirds have been busy exploring the world around us and have taken an exciting trip up to St Albans train station, the children got the see and count how many trains went whizzing past, but we also went into the ticket office and bought ourselves some tickets. We learnt about how we use train tickets to get onto the train, whilst the ladybirds were viewing the trains it began to rain and it was lots of fun getting out our umbrellas to stay dry. We have also had lots of fun exploring scents through our playdough, we made the playdough together as well picking the scents that went it them, we had basil, lemon, and orange. It was so much fun being able to explore these scenes and let our creative juices flow as we made the playdough this also helped to support our fine motor skills mixing and rolling it out.

Butterflies

The butterflies’ children have been getting busy cooking during the month of October. They have made gingerbread and cheese and fruit skewers. the children along with the staff have put together a butterfly’s cookbook, which the children have been adding too. We have been busy making our spooky picture for Halloween. We had an exciting visit from our local fire station the fire engine came down to the nursery and we got the chance to sit inside the fire engine, wear the helmet, spray water with the hose and even got the chance to see the lights and sounds of the fire engine when there is an emergency. The children were really interested in learning about a fire engine and what we fire fighter do to help people.
